Working with the Crown Estate, Equinor and Gwynt Glas, this will be a joint venture between EDF Renewables UK and ESB that will create several windfarms most likely in Bristol and Port Talbot.
These are expected to be some of the largest of their type in the world and create 5,300 new jobs are during the project, delivering a £1.4bn boost to the UK economy.
The wind farms will probably not visible from land and the turbines themselves could be up to 300m (984ft) tall and be capable of powering four million homes in the UK.
